Presidents Dit.

Report by the Area President Commodore Paul Sutermeister DL RN
AGM held at the Clarence Club York on 20-03-2010.
Good afternoon Shipmate Chairman & Mrs White, Shipmates.
I have little to report since our last meeting.
I attended the HMS PENELOPE Association Annual Reunion in Blackpool, not as your President but as a member of the Association. HMS PENELOPE was Blackpool's adopted Ship and the Association had built up a very good Liaison with the Blackpool RNA. Unfortunately, due to the deaths of two stalwart members and a lack of volunteers to take on the various offices, that branch has folded and it was vert sad to see the trophies and memorabilia which had been acquired over the years being disposed of.
As ypur President I was invited to the Dinner held by the Lord Mayor of Newcastle to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Death of Admiral Lord Collingwood. The instigators behind the dinner was the organization called the 1805 Association which felt that Collingwood was under appreciated and very much in the shadow of Nelson. As you know, Collingwood was from Northumberland and the North East is very proud of its Collingwood connections. The main speaker was the First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Mark Stanhope and HMS CUMBERLAND was in the Tyne to mark the Anniversary.
That Shipmates concludes my Report Thank You.
